CHAPTER 9

It was well in the morning but they were still cuddling naked in the bed of the B&B.

“Tell me, my wonderful human woman, don't you feel the need for nutrients?” asked Dannar.

“This time, I feel like I could eat almost as much as you do,” she replied with a smile on her face.

With regret, Annabeth separated her body from Dannar's. Hmm! It seemed strange to her that only now she could feel the coolness of the morning. Even their love was hot! Or maybe the extraterrestrial man's body was generating heat. She didn’t linger on that, and walked naked, without the previous pudic restrain, to the bathroom. There, after a quick shower, she donned her underwear, which had already dried up, and put on her green dress.

Then came Dannar's turn for the morning toilet. Annabeth thought it was worth trying a shower together, but the space in the cabin’s bathroom was a bit tight. She made a mental note to try this another day.

Breakfast was a Swedish buffet arranged in the dining room in the main building, to the left of the reception. Annabeth kept her word and eagerly ate what she chose from the breakfast table prepared by the B&B personnel. Her selection included eggs and bacon, a sandwich with butter and cheese, but also hot rolls with butter and homemade jam, and fresh orange juice. Dannar had chosen ... well, almost everything; he hadn't forgotten about cereals with yogurt, Swiss cheese with the customary holes, or Italian sausages.

Annabeth didn't drink coffee, and because of that, Dannar was not too exposed to the dark, stimulating liquor. That's why she thought of giving him this choice.

“You know, you could drink real coffee here, not like the one I tried to make at Meryl's cottage. I don't drink because its stimulating effect creates an inner turmoil for me, but you can try it. As long as it’s not affecting you in an unwanted way ...”

“Yes, my friend, after the "hectic" night you had, the stimulants would do just fine!” Webby joined in the talk.

“Oh, shut up! If you can't understand the concept of love, you better stay out,” said Dannar, somewhat amused.

But he followed this suggestion and had his meal crowned with an espresso. Then they left rather quickly from the dining room because there were some curious looks from other people who were wondering about the amount of food consumed by them—that is, by Dannar, to be more accurate.

Shortly thereafter, when they resumed their drive north with Dannar behind the wheel, Annabeth felt that they had to talk about what had happened between them.

“Shall we talk about what happened this morning?”

Dannar did not reply. He gave her a brief glance and then turned to look at the paved road in front of the car. He remembered that earlier in his witty exchange with Webby he used the word "love." Was it love what he felt for this woman? If so, he was not yet ready to admit it out loud.
